Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially released China's semiconductor lighting comprehensive standardization technology system, 54 standards have been issued, 73 standards are being researched and developed, and 66 standards are to be researched and developed. “In terms of manufacturing technology, LED lighting products themselves are much more complicated than traditional luminaires, covering semiconductors, luminaire structures and heat sink materials, from upstream substrate materials, epitaxy, chips to device packaging and applications. The semiconductor industry and the lighting industry are industries in which all disciplines are intertwined." Zheng Haowen, director of the National High-Tech Enterprise Development LED Professional Committee, said that China's LED manufacturing equipment is mainly in the low-end field, and the high-end field relies on imports. China is also in urgent need of formulating a sound industrial standard system to provide a strong impetus for the development of the industry.

The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that China's semiconductor lighting comprehensive standardization aims to serve and support the development of the semiconductor lighting industry, focusing on the formulation of devices, modules, light sources and luminaire standards, and collaboratively developing epitaxial growth, chip manufacturing, device packaging, raw materials, and zero. Components, lamps, ancillary products, technical means, production preparation, inspection methods and other complete sets of system standards, the development of semiconductor lighting standards to regulate the industry, promote the healthy and sustainable development of China's semiconductor lighting industry.

According to reports, China's semiconductor lighting integrated standardization technology system is divided into three parts: general standards and materials and equipment, chips and devices, lighting equipment and systems, a total of four parts. The general standard mainly includes the terminology of semiconductor lighting, which plays a unified role in the production, circulation and standardization of products in the field of semiconductor lighting technology. The three sub-systems are divided according to the industry chain links, and each sub-system is subdivided according to the product type.

LED outdoor lighting international standards or early next year
It was learned from the International Outdoor Lighting Alliance (TALQ Alliance) meeting held by Qinshang Optoelectronics that LED lighting companies led by LED street lighting manufacturing companies are discussing the details of LED outdoor lighting standards and plan to complete them by the end of this year. The draft specification, specific standards will be launched early next year.

At present, there is no uniform standard in the field of LED outdoor lighting in the world. The uneven standard has caused enterprises to encounter obstacles in applying LED products in different regions.

A person from Shenzhen who produces LED street lights revealed that his company had encountered situations where street lamp products could not be used in other places. At the same time, the lack of international uniform standards is also the bottleneck for the export of mainland street lighting products. The TALQ International Alliance, jointly established by six international streetlight giants such as Qinshang Optoelectronics and Philips, aims to solve the problem of non-uniformity between different countries. Li Xuliang, the only Chinese LED lighting company involved in the development of standards, said: "Participating in the development of international standards will help domestic companies to gain more voice and help domestic companies explore the international market."

LED industry booming depends on new technological breakthroughs and strong policy support
In 2003, China's total LED output was 20 billion. After ten years of industry development, the number of domestic and international Yanhe chip manufacturers has grown to nearly one hundred. In 2011, the annual LED output value was 156 billion yuan, of which the epitaxial and chip output value was 6.5 billion yuan.

At present, the LED industry has become one of the most promising emerging industries, and it is an important part of the new strategic emerging technologies of information technology and energy conservation and environmental protection. After 10 years of development, China's LED industry has grown rapidly, its technological innovation capability has been continuously improved, its application fields have gradually expanded, and a number of key enterprises have grown up, and many companies have successfully listed. Industrial development has begun to take shape and become one of the fastest growing industries.

Significant results
China's LED industry started in the 1970s, and the real development in the past 10 years. In 2003, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the former Ministry of Information Industry, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Construction jointly organized and implemented the National Semiconductor Lighting Project. Subsequently, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance continued to increase investment in the LED industry and applications. By 2011, the total output value of the whole industry was 150 billion yuan. The packaging technology is developing towards flip-chip and integrated packaging, which is close to the international advanced level; The metal organic source and sapphire substrate independently developed by the company have been applied on a large scale, and the metal MOCVD prototype has been successfully developed. In particular, China's silicon-based (silicon substrate) LED technology level and industry have made breakthroughs.

Nanchang University National Silicon-based LED Engineering Technology Research Center at a current density of 35A/cm2, silicon substrate blue LED device electro-optical conversion power efficiency of 50% to 55%, packaged into a cool white LED device, its luminous lumen efficiency reached 120lm / W ~130lm/W, reached the current mainstream level of sapphire LED. At a current density of 5A/cm2, the silicon substrate blue LED device has an electro-optical conversion power efficiency of 55% to 60%, and is packaged into a cool white LED device, and its luminous lumen efficiency reaches 145 lm/W to 160 lm/W. From small size (0.2mm × 0.2mm) chips to power chips (1.1mm × 1.1mm), small batch production has been realized, which are applied to color screens, digital tubes, flashlights, bulbs, street lamps, etc. So far, China is in an international leading position in both silicon-based LED research and industry.

Policy support

The LED industry is the main content of the country's strategic emerging industries. In recent years, the state has introduced a number of incentive policies. The current good development of the industry is inseparable from the relevant policies introduced by the state to encourage industrial development. In order to support the development of LED and semiconductor lighting industry, the State Council, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology and other relevant ministries and commissions have given priority support in the areas of technological independent innovation, technological upgrading and promotion, and promotion and application.

Chen Hesheng, president of Anhui Zerun Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., said in an interview that the support methods of the LED industry at all levels of government and institutions have shifted from investment support to market application and promotion. This is not only an important indicator of the transition period of industrial development, but also means that the LED lighting market has reached the eve of large-scale market application," Chen Hesheng said.

As an important measure for the transformation of economic development model and industrial structure adjustment, LED and semiconductor lighting are listed as key contents in the seven strategic emerging industry plans proposed by the state. On May 16 this year, the State Council executive meeting decided to implement the energy-saving and welfare project. The state finance subsidized energy-saving for four products, including high-efficiency lighting (including energy-saving lamps and LED lights). On July 19, the National Development and Reform Commission released the 2012/2013 financial subsidy policy to promote semiconductor (LED) lighting products. In order to support technological innovation and technological advancement of LED and semiconductor lighting, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has arranged electronic information industry development fund projects for many years as an important measure to support independent technological innovation of LEDs for key technological breakthroughs, process technology development and testing. Significant results have been achieved in the development of methodologies and the improvement of service capabilities.

The bottleneck problem that plagues industrial development under the new situation is still very prominent. In the short term, the industry has staged and structural overcapacity. In the long run, the core technologies that have plagued industrial development have not yet achieved fundamental breakthroughs, and the industrial structure is still unreasonable.

As a strategic emerging industry, the development of the LED industry will not be smooth, and the industry is at a critical stage of cultivation and development. The development of the LED industry must follow a certain life cycle and development law. After the rapid development of the industry, it must undergo certain adjustments.
