LED energy-saving standards will be included in the joint statement of the APEC Council of Ministers

According to the Japan Broadcasting Association, the APEC ministerial meeting, which is being held in Yokohama, Japan, is entering the 2nd day schedule today. The meeting will adopt a common statement reflecting the outcome of the negotiations.

According to the report, the existing draft statement states: "The global economy is gradually recovering, and in the future there will be more pressure from trade protectionism."

The draft also stated that “in order to curb the wave of protectionism, member states will reach an agreement that they will not adopt new protection measures such as export restrictions until the end of 2013.”

In addition to this, it is expected that the joint statement will also include the following: In order to further promote intra-regional trade, freight costs and time will be reduced by 10% by 2015 by popularizing measures such as IC tags that can instantaneously control the movement of goods; Each member country will also formulate and popularize universal energy-saving standards for environmental protection-related products such as LED.
