China's printing peripherals market rebounded sharply in the first half of the year

IDC's latest quarterly tracking report of China's printing peripherals market (second quarter of 2010) shows that overall shipments of China’s printing peripherals market were approximately 5.83 million units in the first half of 2010, compared with the same period of last year. The volume of goods increased by 36.4%. In the first quarter and second quarter of 2010, the overall shipment volume of China's printing peripherals market increased by 26.5% and 44.3% respectively compared with the same period of last year.

According to Ms. Huo Jinjie, IDC's Vice President of Asia Pacific Research, the recovery of the overall economic environment in the first half of 2010 has brought a big boost to the recovery of China’s printing peripheral market demand. The channel sales and industry sales in the printer market showed a sharp rebound compared with 2009. Major manufacturers also invested more energy and funds to boost sales in 2010. As a result, the growth of China's printing peripherals market in the first half of 2010 was rapid.

IDC China analyst responsible for the printing peripherals market researcher Wu Zhige and Wang Shana believe that although the overall economic environment in the first half of 2010 is good, the printing peripheral market has grown significantly; but the economic outlook in the second half of 2010 is not very optimistic. With the printer market demand fully saturated in the first half of the year, growth is expected to slow in the second half of the year. IDC therefore predicts that the growth rate of the peripheral printer market in 2010 will be approximately 14.6%.

Wu Zhige and Wang Shana believe that in the first half of 2010, China's printing peripheral market has the following characteristics:

1. Sales of low-end model products rose significantly In the first half of 2010, sales of low-end models of inkjet and laser products showed rapid growth in China's printing peripherals market. The laser products used HP laser printer HP LaserJet P1007 and laser machine HP LaserJet M1005mfp to increase the most, which was more than 100% over the same period of last year. In the first half of 2009, HP’s laser products were out of stock, and in the first half of 2010, with the gradual recovery of supplier supply and the increasing demand in the low-end market, sales of laser low-end model products increased. In addition to HP, other major manufacturers have also invested great efforts to promote and promote the sales of low-end laser products, such as Canon LBP-2900, Samsung SCX-4521F and other sales in the first half of 2010 have increased significantly.

In terms of inkjet products, Canon, Epson, and HP, the three major manufacturers, all lowered the prices of low-end inkjet products in 2010, which drove the sales of entry-level inkjet products. With the ever-decreasing prices of inkjet printers and all-in-one machines, more and more home users have chosen to purchase inkjet products. Therefore, IDC predicts that there will be more room for development of inkjet printers in the home market in the future.

2. Vendors pay attention to channel management and expansion In the printing peripheral market in the first half of 2010, major manufacturers have devoted more attention to channel management and expansion, strengthened the management of channels, and ensured the interests of channels to a greater degree. , And then stable development, so as to achieve a win-win situation of manufacturers and channels. In addition, a lot of new channels were expanded in the first half of 2010, especially in 4-6 cities. Most of the companies have added new channels, which has led to the growth of this market. IDC believes that there is still a lot of room for development in the printer market in China's 4-6 cities, and the development and sales of channels in 4-6 cities will certainly drive the significant growth in overall shipments of print peripherals.

3. Industry demand remains strong in the second half of 2010 Although the outlook for the overall economic environment in the second half of 2010 is not very optimistic, the Chinese government's investment in infrastructure industries will not decrease. Needle printers will continue to have room for growth in the second half of the year, driven by tax reform and medical reform. The government, education, finance, and other industries are still stimulating demand for high-end products. IDC predicts that the growth rate of the medium- and high-speed monochrome laser printers and color printers market in the second half of 2010 will remain high.
