City lighting low carbonization

“Cityscape lighting must be low-carbon, strengthen management, and strengthen creativity.” At the first cross-strait urban lighting and low-carbon economy forum, Wang Jintao, chairman of the China Illuminating Society, said in a speech.

At present, the total amount of lighting electricity in China accounts for about 12% of the total electricity consumption of the entire society, of which urban landscape lighting accounts for a large proportion. In 2004, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the National Development and Reform Commission issued the "Opinions on Strengthening Urban Lighting Management to Promote Conservation and Use of Electricity," and defined and regulated the concept of "urban lighting", namely urban functional lighting and landscape lighting. “In recent years, China’s urban construction and development have made rapid progress. The significance of strengthening urban green lighting and enhancing urban lighting quality has become increasingly prominent,” said Wang Jinxi.

In an interview with reporters, Wang Jintao said that in the process of beautifying the city's nighttime light environment, the social and environmental benefits of urban lighting should be taken into account to increase the economic benefits of urban lighting. It is particularly important to strengthen the creative design of urban lighting and enhance the level of urban lighting design.

Wang Jinlu said that in order to make urban lighting low-carbon, it is necessary to achieve scientific and rational urban lighting. The rapid development of modern lighting technology, some advanced lighting technology, new products continue to emerge, we must be good at using these advanced technology and performance techniques, and vigorously promote new technologies and new energy-saving products, and constantly reduce the energy consumption of urban lighting.

Wang Jinlu said that urban lighting management must also be standardized, and the corresponding city lighting management standards should be implemented to change the status quo of urban lighting heavy construction and light management, and promote the overall improvement of urban lighting management level.
