Relay Parameter Term 1: Rated Operating Voltage

This is the voltage that the relay coil requires to function properly. It can be either AC or DC, depending on the type of relay being used. Always make sure to use the correct voltage as specified by the manufacturer to avoid damage.

Relay Parameter Term 2: DC Resistance

This refers to the resistance of the relay coil when measured with a multimeter. It's an important parameter for determining the power consumption and performance of the relay. A lower resistance typically means more current will flow through the coil.

Relay Parameter Term 3: Pick-up Current

The minimum current required to activate the relay and cause it to switch. In practical applications, the applied current should be slightly higher than the pick-up current to ensure stable operation. However, the applied voltage should not exceed 1.5 times the rated operating voltage, as this could lead to excessive current and potentially burn out the coil.

Relay Parameter Term 4: Drop-out Current

This is the maximum current at which the relay will release or return to its original state. Once the current in the coil drops below this threshold, the relay will de-energize. Notably, the drop-out current is usually much lower than the pick-up current.

Relay Parameter Term 5: Contact Switching Voltage and Current

These are the maximum voltage and current levels that the relay contacts can handle. Exceeding these values may cause the contacts to wear out or fail, leading to unreliable operation. Always check the specifications before connecting any load to the relay.
