HTC Vive Officially Launches Viveport Arcade Management Platform

For the high-end VR experience, the biggest problem is that users need to invest thousands of dollars to buy high-performance computers that can run VR. This is obviously impossible. One of the solutions is the VR arcade experience. Operators provide VR experience rental services for the majority of players in public places.

HTC Vive officially launched the Viveport Arcade management platform AR Information HTC announced on Wednesday the new offline experience store content management and sales platform Viveport Arcade. The platform is designed for offline experience activities such as VR cyber cafes and experience halls. It aims to speed up the operation and management of VR offline experience to acquire VR content correctly, and at the same time solve the problems of location tracking and income distribution between operators and developers.

This is an attempt by HTC to popularize VR, and it also boosts the development of emerging VR offline experience shops and VR Internet cafes. Rikard Steiber, vice president of HTC Virtual Reality, stated that this is an important milestone for mainland China.

“We have seen very strong growth in this area in the Chinese market. There are already thousands of VR cyber cafes in the industry that have opened experience stores,” Rikard Steiber said in an interview. “Traditional cybercafes, cinema shopping malls, independent operators and shopping malls are all setting up offline VR cyber cafes.”

Viveport Arcade has these help in business: First, operators in Internet cafes can often update authorized software. Game software developers can use this method to sell their VR software products.

Internet cafe operators can pre-order VR games through Viveport Arcade so that offline users can experience these VR games in Internet cafes. Think about it, when an arcade operator bought a pile of virtual currency, they could resell it to users of short-term lease Vive. When these integral operation methods are promoted, HTC can even share the benefits with the software used by Vive developers.

In the future, HTC will develop many VR games that are limited to offline VR cybercafes because offline cafes usually require special hardware or specific venue settings.

In order to stimulate the enthusiasm of creating VR cyber cafes, HTC has recently launched Viveland, a VR theme park in Taipei. This provides a sample reference for the operation of VR cybercafes to inspire others to create their own VR games and promote VR experiences.

Viveport Arcade will first visit mainland China and Taiwan, China. HTC will promote Viveport Arcade to thousands of locations around the world next year.
