Quanzhi intelligent voice, creating a complete ecosystem from algorithm, design, manufacturing to cloud
In recent years, voice portals, especially smart speakers, have become a major trend in the tech industry. From setting alarms and playing music to controlling home devices and even telling stories, smart speakers are becoming essential life assistants, transforming the way humans interact with machines. Over the years, Quanzhi has significantly invested in R&D for artificial intelligence voice technology, launching several high-quality chip products that support advanced voice recognition.
The A1 speaker, powered by Quanzhi’s All-Right R16 chip, was one of the first smart speaker products in China. With over 60 functions, it excels in wake-up response, far-field recognition, and overall performance. Its rich content library also delivers an exceptional user experience. Recently, Chen Feng, General Manager of Quanzhi Smart Home Business Department, shared insights on the company's latest developments in intelligent voice technology during an exclusive interview.
"The driving force behind the two intelligent voice systems is the need to free up hands and simplify function access. Currently, most interactions rely on buttons or touchscreens, but in certain scenarios, hands should be free. As smart devices become more functional, the selection process becomes more complex, and intelligent voice helps flatten the interaction experience," said Chen. He added that the home appliance sector is the ideal environment for voice technology. For example, the US-based R100i IQ100 can be controlled via voice from up to five meters away, allowing users to adjust settings without physical input.
Quanzhi has developed a range of voice solutions, including dual-grain, four-millimeter, and six-million voice technologies. These solutions offer varying levels of recognition distance—up to 5–10 meters for the six-million version, and 3–4 meters for the dual-grain option. The four-millimeter solution falls in between, providing flexible options for different use cases.
Chen explained the advantages of the R series: "The All-in-One R series is an industrial-grade chip designed to meet the quality and processing requirements of industrial equipment. It has gained recognition in the home appliance industry. The R16 is a general-purpose chip used in air conditioners, audio systems, and robotic vacuums. It serves as a computing platform for speech algorithms, supporting both simple and complex voice recognition tasks."
When asked why R16 was made a general-purpose chip, Chen responded: "Currently, voice technology is still in the algorithm phase. There are two main types: traditional waveform-based recognition and AI-based methods, which offer better adaptability and accuracy. In terms of hardware, any chip with audio input and sufficient computing power—like an ARM dual-core 1.2GHz CPU—can support basic voice recognition. However, calling it a dedicated voice chip isn’t entirely accurate. The industry is moving toward specialized voice chips."
Despite rapid development, intelligent voice technology still faces challenges, particularly the balance between cost and performance. "Adding voice features can increase costs by at least 100 yuan, which small appliances may struggle to absorb. On the other hand, cutting costs too much can harm user experience," Chen noted. To address this, Quanzhi continuously optimizes its designs to provide streamlined, cost-effective solutions for the industry.
With the current AI wave driving innovation, Quanzhi aims to take a strong position in the market. The company currently offers high-performance computing platforms and plans to introduce AI chips with embedded intelligent acceleration engines in the future.
Looking ahead, Quanzhi hopes to integrate cloud computing with local processing, building a complete ecosystem that spans from algorithm development to manufacturing and cloud services. By doing so, they aim to create a seamless blend of marketing and technology ecosystems while continuously advancing their voice technology.
