One of the major highlights of Android 8.0 is a 2x faster app launch speed compared to its predecessor, along with more efficient background process management. This makes the system feel smoother and more responsive, especially on devices with limited resources.

The user interface has also seen a number of design changes, including redesigned icons, a more intuitive notification center, improved setup menus, and better split-screen functionality. Battery optimization has been refined as well, and the system now includes 60 new emoji characters for more expressive communication.

Another key improvement is the enhanced Bluetooth audio capabilities in Android 8.0. The system now supports multiple audio codecs, including SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC. These enhancements allow for higher quality audio transmission over wireless connections, making it a strong competitor to Apple's proprietary audio technologies.

Each Bluetooth codec has its own strengths. For instance, aptX delivers high-quality audio at up to 352kbps, while aptX HD pushes the limits further with 24-bit/48kHz resolution and a bit rate of 576kbps. These improvements are particularly beneficial for users who value sound clarity and detail.

LDAC, developed by Sony, is one of the most advanced Bluetooth codecs available. It allows for data transfer rates up to 990kbps—three times faster than standard Bluetooth. This means users can enjoy near Hi-Res Audio quality, making it ideal for audiophiles who use high-end wireless headphones.

With these advancements, Google is pushing the industry toward wireless audio solutions. By supporting high-quality Bluetooth decoding, the company is accelerating the decline of traditional wired headphones and reducing the market for Lightning and 3.5mm jacks.
