[TechWeb Report] The Android 8.0 "Oreo" update has officially confirmed that Google's own devices, including the Nexus and Pixel smartphones, will be among the first to receive the upgrade. Recently, it was revealed that Google has significantly improved Bluetooth audio performance in Android 8.0, now supporting advanced codecs such as aptX HD and LDAC.

One of the key highlights of Android 8.0 is a significant improvement in app launch speed—up to twice as fast as Android 7.0. Additionally, background process management has been enhanced, allowing for more efficient resource allocation and better overall system performance.

The user interface has also seen several refinements, including redesigned icons, an updated notification center, a more intuitive setup menu, and improved split-screen functionality. Battery life optimization has been further refined, and 60 new emojis have been added to the system.

Another major enhancement in Android 8.0 is the improved Bluetooth audio support. The system now supports multiple audio codecs, including SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC. This means users can enjoy higher-quality wireless audio experiences, depending on their device and headphones.

Each Bluetooth audio codec has its own advantages. For instance, aptX delivers high-quality 16-bit/44.1kHz audio at up to 352kbps, while aptX HD supports even higher resolution audio at 24-bit/48kHz with a bit rate of up to 576kbps.

LDAC, developed by Sony and licensed to Google, is particularly impressive. It can transmit data at up to 990kbps—three times the speed of standard Bluetooth. This allows for near-Hi-Res Audio quality (24-bit/96kHz), making it one of the most advanced Bluetooth audio technologies available.

With these improvements, Android 8.0 brings high-quality wireless audio decoding capabilities that are comparable to Apple's proprietary audio tech. This move by Google signals a shift towards wireless audio solutions, potentially reducing the market for traditional wired headphones and Lightning-based earphones.
