# Original innovator # Sharp AQUOS S2, an unforgettable rollover trip.

First off, let me introduce myself: I’m 30 years old, in my second year of business, dealing primarily in bricks (tiles). Sometimes I also transport them. My family’s been in the brick-moving business since my dad’s time, and I’ve learned a thing or two about bricks. You might be typing away on your keyboard thinking you’re part of the wealthy elite, but you can just call me the Brick Second Generation. Back in university, I was all about computers. I had a passion for anything digital—mobile phones, laptops, you name it. I was always tinkering with gadgets, and unfortunately, most of the time, things broke. Forgive me for being a bit clumsy. This is my first attempt at writing a review, so bear with me if it's not perfect. I promise it comes from the heart. Reasons for Purchase: I’ve always been an avid user of both Android and Apple devices. My first Android device was the HTC HERO G3, which was fantastic back then. Later, I sold it for $80 in Africa when I worked there. I then moved on to Samsung S3, iPhone 5, 6, and 7, all the way up to the iPhone 7 Plus. Last year, when Huawei launched the P9, I couldn’t resist its overwhelming advertising, especially in Hong Kong. Tempted, I swapped my iPhone 6S for a P9. After a month, suffice it to say I cried if I continued talking about it. I quickly moved on to the iPhone 7 Plus, which was flawless. iOS is still top-notch. Recently, due to the attractive ICBC E-card rates and the need for dual SIM functionality at work, I decided to switch from Apple. Initially, I considered OnePlus 5, which had impressive specs and ran smoothly. However, the screen quality left me wanting more. Eventually, I settled on the Sharp S2, which promised a full-screen design. I pre-ordered it immediately, only to find out it wasn’t everything I hoped for. Appearance Gallery: Opening the box, the design was decent. The accessories, though, were lacking—no headphones, just a charging cable and plug. At 2499 RMB, it felt a bit stingy. Online photos make it look better than it actually is. It’s lightweight, but the back cover doesn’t feel as premium as expected. It’s more like a good-quality plastic, or resin. It’s definitely a fingerprint magnet. In person, it feels less impressive than the iPhone 7 Plus. Here are some photos for reference: [Insert Image] In terms of design, the Sharp S2 is okay, but not as good as the iPhone 7 Plus. It’s thinner and lighter, but the build quality isn’t as refined. The buttons feel a bit stiff, and the touch screen responsiveness is noticeably slower compared to the iPhone 7 Plus. I’d give it around 70% compared to the 95% of the iPhone 7 Plus. Performance: Many people say benchmarks don’t tell the whole story, but for the average user, they’re a decent indicator of performance. The Huawei P9 scored around 70K, which was great at the time. The iPhone 7 Plus has been smooth and reliable over the past year. Even after updates, it rarely freezes. Running iOS 10.32, the phone occasionally lagged, but after updating to 10.33, it improved significantly. Its AnTuTu score is over 170K. OnePlus 5 performs well too, especially for gaming and multitasking. The Snapdragon 835 chipset ensures smooth performance. However, the screen quality is disappointing, especially compared to the iPhone 7 Plus. The OnePlus 5 screen is less vibrant and has a lower resolution, making it uncomfortable to use for extended periods. Sharp S2, on the other hand, runs on a Snapdragon 630 processor. It’s decent for everyday tasks but struggles under heavy loads. The phone heats up quickly, which affects performance. Its AnTuTu score is around 69K, but under load, it drops to around 60K. The display isn’t great either, though it’s better than some budget phones. Photography: Let’s talk about cameras. The iPhone 7 Plus remains the best overall. The dual-camera setup is excellent, producing sharp images with accurate colors. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is probably the best in low-light conditions. The OnePlus 5 takes decent photos, but the screen quality makes them look better on another device. The Sharp S2’s camera is acceptable but lacks detail in challenging lighting conditions. Its color reproduction is pleasant, but it falls short compared to the iPhone 7 Plus. System: iOS is flawless, no complaints here. I’d give it 100%. OnePlus’s OxygenOS is also solid, offering a clean and intuitive interface. I’d rate it 90%. Sharp S2’s UI is decent for a mid-range phone. It’s functional but lacks refinement. It gets the job done, but there’s room for improvement. Conclusion: Overall, the Sharp S2 is a decent phone, but it falls short of expectations. The screen quality is subpar compared to the iPhone 7 Plus, and the build quality could be better. Performance is adequate for daily use, but it can’t handle demanding tasks. The camera is decent but not exceptional. At 2499 RMB, the Sharp S2’s value proposition isn’t strong enough. It doesn’t offer significant advantages over domestic competitors at the same price point. If Sharp wants to regain its reputation, it needs to either lower its price or improve its technology and build quality. I’m considering switching to the LG G6 or waiting for the Samsung S8. Personally, I prefer the OLED screen of the S8, but I’ll wait for feedback from other users before making a final decision. Thanks for reading!
