Huawei Fan Lifeng: NB-IoT opens the "golden age" for commercial scale

On August 16, 2017, at the 2017 China International Internet of Things and Smart China Summit hosted by IOT, Fan Lifeng, Vice President of Huawei's Operator BG Marketing, delivered a keynote speech titled "The Golden Age of NB-IoT: Opening Up Commercial Scale." In his presentation, he shared some fascinating insights into the three key global trends shaping the Internet of Things (IoT), the worldwide deployment of NB-IoT networks, and the six application scenarios where NB-IoT technology excels. His talk was warmly received by over 700 attendees. IOT is driving innovation and transformation across industries. As Fan Lifeng highlighted, according to Vodafone Global's market research, interviews with 1096 corporate executives from 17 countries revealed three significant trends: First, more and more companies are adopting IoT services, with 60% either already using or planning to deploy IoT solutions. Over the past three years, these figures have grown from 12%, to 22%, and then to 36%, nearly doubling annually. Second, companies are increasingly allocating budgets for IoT initiatives, with 24% investing in IoT-related ventures tied to cloud computing, mobile communication, and big data. Third, businesses are seeing returns on their IoT investments, with 63% reporting substantial gains, while 24% experienced a 10% increase in revenue due to IoT. Looking at the progress of NB-IoT networks globally, Fan Lifeng mentioned that by 2017, over 40 NB-IoT networks had been commercially launched in 30 countries. By 2018, it is anticipated that the world will see a fully functional network emerge. Turning our attention to domestic developments, China's three major telecom operators—China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom—cleared the way for large-scale NB-IoT IoT business expansion when they secured IoT business licenses earlier this month on August 14. In May 2017, China Telecom completed the construction of an IoT network comprising 310,000 NB-IoT devices. Initial field trials in seven provinces and twelve cities, including Jiangsu, Shanghai, Guangdong, Henan, Fujian, and Zhejiang, have successfully completed either commercial deployments or trials. Since July, operators in Sichuan, Beijing, Hunan, Hainan, and Gansu have officially launched their next-generation IoT NB-IoT services. Meanwhile, on August 9, 2017, China Mobile issued a tender notice for the 2017-2018 cellular IoT (primarily NB-IoT and eMTC) engineering wireless and core network equipment design and feasibility study. Estimated costs for the project reached 39.5 billion yuan. Additionally, China Mobile announced a tender for the 2017-2018 narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) antenna centralized procurement project, expecting to purchase approximately 1.11 million NB-IoT antennas. Chairman of China Mobile stated that by the end of 2017, the company plans to build mobile IoT (NB-IoT) networks in 346 cities, underscoring their commitment to strengthening IoT infrastructure. In May, China Unicom initiated trial commercialization of the NB-IoT network in Shanghai, featuring applications such as smart parking, smart firefighting, and intelligent water services. Currently, China Unicom has implemented NB-IoT pilots in over ten cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Notably, Shanghai Unicom, as the vanguard of NB-IoT within the Unicom Group, built the world’s largest NB-IoT public network earlier this year. These developments highlight how NB-IoT is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of modern connectivity, promising transformative impacts across various sectors.

2V Lead Acid Battery

First, basic concepts
AGM battery, the full name of Absorbent Glass Mat battery, that is, adsorbed glass fiber separator battery, is an innovative lead-acid battery. It uses a special glass fiber separator, which can effectively adsorb and fix the electrolyte, so as to achieve efficient and balanced charging and discharging of the battery.
Second, technical characteristics
Efficient charging and discharging: Thanks to the special glass fiber separator, AGM batteries ensure that the electrolyte is evenly distributed inside the battery, thus improving the charging and discharging efficiency of the battery.
Sealed design: Most AGM batteries have a sealed design that eliminates the need for open exhaust, but instead regulates the internal and external air pressure through a pressure control valve. This design not only avoids the emission of acid mist, but also makes the battery more heat-resistant and reduces the performance degradation caused by excessive water loss.
Strong durability: The cycle charging capacity of AGM batteries is high, usually able to reach about 3 times that of lead-calcium batteries, so its service life is longer. At the same time, its capacitance also shows high stability during the whole service cycle.
Low temperature start reliable: The AGM battery in low temperature environment starting performance is more reliable, to ensure the normal use of the vehicle in cold weather.
Environmental protection: The design of the AGM battery reduces the emission of acid fog and pollution to the environment, which is in line with the modern environmental protection concept.
3. Application scenarios
Due to its superior performance characteristics, 2V AGM batteries are widely used in a variety of scenarios that require high-reliability and long-life batteries. For example, it can be used as a backup power supply to provide stable power support for key facilities such as communication base stations and data centers. It can also be used as a part of the energy storage system to store and release electrical energy to meet the power needs of different time periods.
