Win8 system lossless partition
Guide: Many users are unaware of how disk lossless partitioning works. Today, I'll use the Windows 8 system as an example to explain the process in detail. Lossless partitioning is a method that allows you to reorganize your disk space without losing any data. Here's how you can do it:
1. Right-click on "This PC" or "My Computer," then select "Manage." From there, go to "Disk Management." Alternatively, you can press the Windows key + X and choose "Disk Management" directly from the menu. This will open the Disk Management window, as shown in the image below.

2. In this window, you can adjust the size of your existing partitions. For example, if you want to shrink the C drive, right-click on it and choose "Compress Volume." Enter the amount of space you want to free up. Keep in mind that the value should be in megabytes (MB), so if you want to free up 20GB, you need to enter 20 * 1024 = 20,480 MB. Make sure you don’t exceed the maximum available space for compression.

3. After compressing, you’ll see an unallocated space (usually shown in black). This is the new space you've freed up.
4. To create a new partition in this unallocated space, right-click on it and choose "New Simple Volume." Follow the wizard, enter the size you want, and click "Next." You can place the new partition next to the existing one. Once done, you’ll have a new 50GB partition, as shown in the image.

5. If you want to merge the D drive with the remaining space, right-click on the D drive and select "Delete Volume." This will convert the D drive into unallocated space, which you can then combine with the newly created partition or use for other purposes.
By following these steps, you can easily perform lossless disk partitioning without losing any data. It’s a useful technique for managing storage efficiently, especially when you need more space for files or software installations. Always make sure to back up important data before making any changes to your disk partitions.
